Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best season to travel with kids?

Depending on what type of holiday you envisage for the kids, eg. whether you want to go hiking in the High Country during Autumn or if you would prefer building a snowman or sliding down the mountain on a toboggan (hopefully you remember to give the kids a go too).  Different times of the year can provide completely different amazing experiences at the same destination.

Are the images and videos on the website original?

The majority of the images and videos on the Places to go with kids (PTGWK) website are original.  We take pride in creating unique high-quality images that are exclusive to our website however there are times when we cannot use our own.  Please visit our YouTube page here if you would like to view some more photos and videos for inspiration on Places to go with kids.

How can I be sure whether a place is suitable for my kids?

It is a good idea to ensure that the the places you intend to go are suitable and age appropriate for your specific needs prior to booking your trip.  Age or height restrictions may apply to certain activities so please check this prior to confirming your booking.

Is the place I want to visit currently open?

Over the last few years, there have been a number of changes made by tourism operators.  Most are now back to full capacity, however please ensure this is the case prior to your departure.  Some operators will also undertake maintenance from time to time often during the low season, so please ensure the place you would like to visit is not partially or fully closed before you book your trip.

Why can’t I find the place I want to go with my kids on the PTGWK website?

The PTGWK website is constantly being expanded and updated.  If you cannot find your place of interest listed on the PTGWK website, please feel free to fill in the contact form and let us know.

Can I book accommodation on the PTGWK website?

No, we don’t take bookings directly on our website however we provide direct links to the business’s own website or to a booking platform where you can check availability, pricing and make your booking securely.  Our role is to help parents and carers discover kid-friendly accommodation, activities, cafes and attractions.

This means:

  • You book directly with the provider or via a booking platform
  • You get the most up-to-date information
  • Any questions or changes are handled with the business or booking platform

We provide parents and carers with a wide range of options when searching for new and exciting places to go with kids.

Why do you use the word "kids" instead of "children" on your website?

We use “kids” because it is a term commonly used in everyday Australian English. It feels friendly, approachable and easy to read. While the word “children” is correct, the term “kids” is what many people in Australia use and can relate to.
