Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex
You can discover Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC) at the end of a winding, scenic drive, where kangaroos and wombats may be spotted along the way. CDSCC is a must for kids who are fascinated by space where they can see giant satellite dishes, learn about space exploration, and understand how scientists communicate with spacecraft across the solar system. CDSCC is mainly open on Saturdays and Sundays, with additional days during school holidays making it a great weekend or holiday outing for families. Self guided tours and interactive displays make this visit suitable for children of all ages. Entry is free and there is also a playground for kids and outdoor areas to enjoy and take in the views of the amazing antennas at work.
Mount Stromlo Observatory
The Mount Stromlo Observatory offers breathtaking views and a peek into Australia’s astronomy history. When visiting Geoscience Australia, you can enjoy a 1.1km walk around the outside of the building, where you’ll explore 4600 million years of Earth’s history.
